27 October – 29 November 2007
Stellenbosch Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery is proud to present Reality Bytes, an exhibition by renowned Cape Town based photographer, Dale Yudelman.
Direct from the LUMO Photographic Triennial in Finland, this is the largest showing of this acclaimed work in South Africa to date. There are several themes explored in this ongoing, sometimes cutting social commentary; where the collusion of irony and humour weave in between emotional and political issues that are mainly local but have worldwide relevance. Reality Bytes tends to create rather than regurgitate reality – where Yudelman’s three decades of award winning photographic excellence embraces technology to further enhance the photographer’s well-known eye for narrative. A particular viewpoint is not the express motive for this body of work, but rather allows the audience its own response to the many aspects of a shared but not necessarily common reality. Two short films Post Mortem 2010 and Pie in the Sky are also included in the exhibition which opened on Saturday, 27 October and ran until 29 November 2007.
